Too many sequel games crowding out TGA slots! Bloggers suggest adding a Best New IP award

There were so many great games in 2023 that some of the games that would have been nominated in previous years were eliminated from the competition, and many gamers felt both sorry and helpless. Tom Henderson, an industry journalist from insider Gaming, tweeted at TGA host Geoff that the TGA should add a “Best New IP” award next year.

He said: “This has nothing to do with the Game of the Year nominations, because Game of the Year is always the pinnacle of gaming, but I think developers should be encouraged to take risks and be creative when they start from scratch with nothing to build on.
