Shortly after Sony’s new cloud gaming handheld, the PlayStation Portal, went up for pre-order, it sold out at retailers in Japan within the first 24 hours. Now, as the device is about to be released, it’s out of stock at Amazon online stores in the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, and Japan, indicating a high demand from players.

When the PlayStation Portal was initially announced, players criticized its simple design, limitations in usage (only usable in areas with an internet connection), and its high price point, which was set at $200, almost half the price of a PS5 digital edition console.
